  • 12x - 23 + 2x = -5
     14x-23=-5 /+23
     14x=18
     x=18/14=9/7
    x=[tex]1 \frac{2}{7} [/tex]
  • [tex]12x-23+2x=-5[/tex]

    combine the like terms (x) so,

    [tex]12x+2x-23=-5[/tex]

    so, this will give you: [tex]14x-23=-5[/tex]

    now, remove the numbers

    so, [tex]14x=-5+23[/tex]

    this will give you : [tex]14x+18[/tex]

    [tex]x = \frac{18}{14} [/tex]

    [tex]x = 1.285714286[/tex]
